open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hi to all,
I am new on the forum.
I used telemac coupled to sisyphe about 10 years ago for about 8 month and since then i haven't got the opportunity to use it again.

I am planning to strat using it again now and would like to install the v6p1 version on my computer running on window 7 64 bits with Intel Core Duo processor.

I downloaded all the files on the website and the only installation guide i could download on the download\manual\installation sub section is th one for v6p0 "installation_telemac_unix-linux-windows_v6p0-060710_gb".

I looked into the forum to see if my concern was already raised by someone and it was indeed (example message #2000) I will like to follow the instructions given in message #2043 but i think i am going from so far that i have problem understanding these instructions.


Can someone give be some basin steps where to start to get Telemac running on my computer?

This is a popular request, and we are currently writing detailed step by step installation documents.

The first document has just been published: under documentation>installation. This relates to the installation using the historical Perl scripts.

Another document, detailing the TELEMAC installation using Python scripts, is going to be published within the next few days. This will be the recommended installation procedure from now on.

The "document" is now a webpage with more details for windows users. It is the procedure for Perl users.

A similar document for Python users is soon to be published at the same location.

I installed telemac on my windows 7 pc with the intel visual fortran compiler. If you have this compiler then I may be able to help you out with the installation.

I have a similar request. I want to install the parallel version of TELEMAC2d 6.1 in WinDOws 7 64 bit PCs. I can get hold of a intel FORTRAN compiler. Could you please give me a step-by-step installation instruction.

Thanks a lot Steve for your prompt help. I downloaded the files you mentioned and read the instructions.However, I have 4 questions:

Q1.
Step 9 of your instruction says

9 Add the following under LD_LIBRARY_PATH
C:\opentelemac\mpi\lib

Where is 'LD_LIBRARY_PATH'? Please explain a bit.

Q2.
Step 10 of your instruction says

Add the following under SYSTELCFG
C:\opentelemac\wintelmpi\config

How to find SYSTELCFG?

Q3.

Can I compile the TELEMAC using this procedure on WIN 7 64 bit system or I have to use a WIN 7 32-bit system?

Q4.

This may sound silly but just to be sure, do I need to install perl and mpich2 in the system before starting the compilation or the 'mpi' and 'perl' directories provided in your download are enough?

you have to create new environment variables with the names:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH
SYSTELCFG

you do not need to install perl or mpich2 because the files are already in the opentelemac folder
