Hi!

I am trying to install version 6.3.
I have correctly compiled both scalar and parallel versions. I use gfortran and python on win7 64b.

I have a problem when trying to run a case in parallel that works with version 6.2.
I get the following error message:
OUVERTURE DES FICHIERS POUR TELEMAC3D

 POINT_TELEMAC3D: ALLOCATION DE LA MEMOIRE

LIT : FIN DE FICHIER ANORMALE
 ON VOULAIT LIRE UN
 ENREGISTREMENT DE 72 VALEURS
 DE TYPE : CH
 SUR LE CANAL : 1

PLANTE : ARRET DU PROGRAMME APRES ERREUR

I thought it might be due to too long strings in my cas file (> 72), but I still have the same error when having no line over 72 characters.

What can be the the cause?
I attach my config file.

By the way, is the version 6.3 available on the SVN an official one?

Thank you in advance for your help!
Regards

PL

Hi,

You are missing the option /DHAVE_MPI in cmd_obj for the parallel configuration.

Following on Yoann's response, please note that you need to clean your previous build (--clean in v6p3) when you recompile.

Hope this helps.
Sebastien.

We have created a tag on the SVN repository (v6p3r0, release 0) for everybody to download and test. We have not made any announcement yet because we are working on another release (v6p3r1) together with a windows auto-install program for the end of the week, if not sooner. We'll make the announcement then.

Enjoy!

Hi!

Thanks Yoann and Sebastien for config and compilation info.
I managed to launch my case!

A last remark, by using the optimazation options -march=corei7 -Ofast, I have a gain but that is not as big as the one reported by konsonaut. I am rather around 10% faster only. It would be interesting to know which energy settings were used by konsonaut to have such a gain (i am in high performance), or other parameter / settings.

Hello,

Note that thanks to the new COMMUNITY page, you can send konsonaut a private message to ask him to share his settings.

Good luck, and happy parallelisation.

Sébastien.

Hello,

I tuned the configuration file only with the flags -march="cpu type" and -Ofast.
The optimization rate using these flags is very good as reported, and I think it depends a lot of the processor type, so maybe for the Intel icore series the optimization is not so effective.

My pc is 7 years old and although it has two 3GHz processing units the simulation times are 2 - 3 times higher compared to the simulations performed with Intel icore series, see the forum posts from Costas and others. So CPU frequency isn't everything.
I hope through these benchmark tests I can convince my boss to buy me a super icore-7 machine B)

Best regards,
Clemens
