The openTELEMAC-MASCARET consortium is pleased to announce that a new automatic installer is available for the Windows platform.

The executable will automatically:
• Install Python 2.7;
• Install Python libraries (numpy, scipy, matplotlib);
• Install a SubVersion client;
• Install a FORTRAN compiler (gfortran);
• Configure all the paths required, and create user configuration file;
• Download the openTELEMAC-MASCARET code from the repository (v6p2);
• Compile the system.
By default, all components are selected unless the installer detects the component (or an equivalent) is already present.

We hope that the automatic installer will greatly help the discovery of the system for new users, as well as help former users to move from the deprecated PERL installation to the new Python installation. It is straightforward to use, simply follow the instructions on the screen and chose the options you want.

Many thanks to Martin and Juliette for preparing the installer. A Linux based installer will also be prepared in due course, as well as a parallel installation.

We tested the installer internally on 32 and 64-bit machines with success, but please consider the current version as a beta version. If you have trouble with it or have suggestions, please post your message in this thread.

This installation method is going to be the preferred option for beginners, and pre-compiled versions of the system won’t be available on the website in the future.

Hello.

I have succeeded in installing v6.2 in the windows OS.

However, when I tried to run a case as v6.1 in DOS, it failed, says" telemac2d is not an intetnal or external command".

Should some other procedures be done after installing, for example, initializing?

Thanks for trying the automated installer and it is good to know that it worked!

To run test cases with v6p2 you now need to enter 'telemac2d.py'.

However, if you run v6p1 test cases with v6p2, you may need to modify your config file and add another configuration. You could copy/paste the v6p2 configuration and only modify the key 'root' and write the path corresponding to your v6p1.

Nevertheless, running v6p1 test cases with v6p2 could fail because of key words modifications for example. So, another solution would be to actually check out the v6p2 validation from the following url

This is actually something which will have to be improved in the automated installer.

For now, you can either type the follwing command :

But, each time you will want to run something, you will have to add the optionin your command line.

Or, you can edit the file systel.windows.cgf (which should be there: C:\opentelemac-mascaret\). In the first lines, you modify the key 'configs' and delete 'wing95s wintels' to have only 'wingfor'

Both options should work. Let me know if you have any problem.

I really would like to run v6p1 cases with v6p2,because I have completed the relative files before I installed v6.2.

Could you please make it clear by telling me where is " v6p2 configuration", how to modify the key 'root' and how to write the path corresponding to v6p1 if I have no v6p1 in this computer?

Actually, I can't understand why the case file could't be general between v6.1 and v6.2.Although some keywords are changed but the format of the files remain the same.
