TOPIC: Parallel process

Parallel process 14 years 1 month ago #734

Hello,

I read the forum but i didn't find many people who use parallel process for their simulation hence my question.

I installed MPICH2 on my computer. I had PATH and LIB directories of it in my environmental variables of the same name. I choose the option to use both of my cores ( Intel E4300 ) and i launched my project with telemac2d V5P9.

Unfortunately i got the following message i really don't get where does it come from :

If anybody has an idea or a piece of advice, i'm all ears !

Thanks

Hi

you didn't update the MPI configuration file after telemac installation.

1)Edit mpi_telemac.conf file (probably in install\win directory) and change the name of the host)

2)if you run only in local mode, you can edit systel.ini file (in config directory) and in the appropriate bloc (win) you can select the runmpi line with the localonly keyword

Thx for your reply.

I changed what you said but i still have just one problem.

When I launch my project, several files are created and among them "mpirun.txt" . In this file there's this line :

exe D:\PT_MODMED\cas2010test\cas2010test.txt1956_tmp\out1956_win.exe

But, in my folder there's no such file so it's normal that it doesn't work. So it seems I've a problem with this file creation but i definitely don't know why and where.

You've got any idea ?

regards,

Alexandre

Hi
did you try to run your simulation without parallel option?
If no, please try and check everything run well.
if yes, could you attach the different log file which are generate during execution because without any more information, it will be difficult for us to help you

Hi,

Without parallel option the simulation works.

I've attached all files which are created at the process launching.

It's no really helpfull :/

hamidouche : You just have to use "print screen" key on your keyboard and paste in Paint.

File Name: cas2010test.zip

Just an idea - try adding a FORTRAN file to your simulation (copy locally one of the subroutine of TELEMAC-2D and use it as a FORTRAN FILE) and try again.

It will show a compilation step when running in parallel - please send the screen with that.

Best regards,

Sébastien.

Hi asturner

I think some other files should be available.
One of them, when you run in parallel mode is partel.log
Could you also try to send the screen output to a text file in order to allow us to have a full overview of the beginning of the run

Hi !

sebourban : Actualy, I already use 2 subroutines ( STRCHE and CORFON ).

telemac : I add to my message the entire screen of what appears when i start the compilation ( I use the GUI fudaa prepro to launch my simulation ). I also add to all files included in my folder after the simulation launching but the mesh file ( named "geo" ) because of its size.

However that may be, thx for your quick answers !

Regards,

Alexandre

Hi asturner
the joined files are not interesting for us in order to help you.
2 of them just shows your computation didn't finish well (no result file)
one is the mpi configuration
the 2 others are binary files.

So please, follow those instructions
    delete the princi_win_MP_v5p9.exe file
try to run a simulation, you should see a compilation step in your running window
send a copy of this new windows if it crash again

If you can't capture all the windows file, you could open a command windows, move to the work directory and run manually the command "telemac2d -s name_of_your_steering_file"

If you want to send us the right files in order we test the run, you should include in you zip file the following files:
    the geo file
    the boundary file
    the fortran file
    the steering file

Regards
Christophe
