I have a problem with getting Telemac-2d to run after the installation.
I installed v7p0 on a windows 7 64 bit system. It is just the second time that I am using telemac2d.
As a first problem it didn't find python which I solved by adding it to the windows path.

After that it seemed to start the simulation of the test case but then showed the error:
"not able to get to the configuration file C:\opentelemac-mascaret\v7p0\configs\systel_v7p0.cfg".

I looked in the folder and then tried to rename the cystel-file for windows 7 and add a path on the "user path". After that when I tried to run the test case nothing happened. It just jumps to the directory of the folder again. I hope I didn't mess anything up. I uninstalled and reinstalled Telemac2d but the problem is still the same.

If I try to run a simulation that I have done on a different computer with v6p3 it says: telemac2d.py is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

I have seen problems with that before which were solved with adding the right path, but I checked it and python is running.

I hope I managed to describe my problem properly. I am not very familiar with working with these things.

Some help would be great.

Hello,

I'm not that expert with the automatic installer but what you can try when launching a simulation is, to provide the path to the config file with the flag -f. See also this forum post::

www.opentelemac.org/index.php/kunena/2-w...ython?start=10#18216

Another solution is to create a new User Variable with the name "SYSTELCFG" and as value the path to the config file including the name of the config file.

Hope this helps,
Clemens

Should I use systel_v7p0.cfg or Another one of the systel files?

It depends on the specific config file which has been used for compiling the Telemac system on your computer.
Since your error message is "not able to get to the configuration file C:\opentelemac-mascaret\v7p0\configs\systel_v7p0.cfg", I would try to use systel_v7p0.cfg.
Since I don't have much experience with the automatic installer, maybe the developers can you help further.

Best regards,
Clemens

I deleted now everything including python and mpich and reinstalled it. The problem that comes now is just:
Telemac2d.py is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
so the problem is not with systel.
I have seen that such a problem occurs already in other topics but I have not found any solution that works for me.

Hello,
ah ok, I thought with v7p0 you had not the telemac2d.py error but the unable-to-find-configuration-file error.
Did you try the option with "-f" mentioned in post nr. 18229?

You should be able to run a simulation (assumed that everthing is compiled well) by providing the full paths in the command, e.g.:

C:\path to python\python.exe C:\path to\..telemac\v7..\scripts\python27\runcode.py telemac2d -f C:\path to config file\systel.cfg C:\path to input files\cas

But this procedure is now maybe even more confusing and is not the elegant solution since one of the purposes of the automatic installer is to avoid exactly such things.

Best regards,
Clemens

I managed to run a simulation providing the full path, so at least I know that everything is copiled correctly. Thank you very much.

I wonder if the problem has to do with that the computer has several external drives. For example was no shortcut created during the installation. This worked on another computer where I installed Telemac now that has just one drive.
