Hello,
I am wondering if it exists methods to obtain the flow balance through a vertical section? The only (easy) method I am aware of is simply to compute the discharge through a given section using the 2D result file but then we lose the balance between positive and negative flows both in horizontal and vertical. The total flow through a given section might indeed by 0 m3/s while you actually have 5 m3/s entering and 5 m3/s exiting at the same time - this result can be of importance for circulation studies.
I was then wondering if it exists methods that I am not aware of. If I am correct the scope files in T3D allow a check along a 1D line only, not through a vertical section.
If not, a possible solution might be to use Postel3D and the normal velocity UN. But to achieve this one would need to area associated with each 2D node in the postel vertical section. Is it possible to add it as an extra variable in the postel result 2D file? I guess it is not straightforward since one cannot choose variables to be printed in the file. But this should be possible I guess.
An alternative would be to use python scripts, but is the area around each node available via scripts?
Any other suggestion for workarounds?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards
