Hello,
I need to simulate the flow throuch a 3d channel where a verticle structure should be placed along the cross section of the mid of the channel.

Is it possible to do this in telemac3d?

Thanks

Hi
It could be great if you describe a little bit more the problem...
With the given elements its hard to answer Yes or No
No if you would have a look to the flow in the structure as it's probably not a free surface flow...
Yes if you are interested in the effect of the structure and the you could adapt some source code to represent the effect (head loss...)

Christophe

Hello,
Thanks for your quick reply.

I am defining the problem clearly in here.

Consider the flow through 3d channel (Fig is given in the attachment) with Lenght - L, Height - H and width - W,

where
Wall A- Solid boundary
Wall B - Solid Boundary
Bottom wall - Solid
Inlet - Open
Outlet - Open

Initial condition
A solid thin sheet (of thickness T)is partly immersed in the water.
Water depth = 50

I need to simulate the flow for this problem in 3d.

I would like to take Number of Horizontal layers = 10 (including top and bottom layer)

If the top 4 layers passes through the solid structure which is having some porosity, Would it be possible simulate this using TELEMAC 3D?

If so, in such case , how do i define porosity only along the nodes of each layer which touches the structure?

Thanks
Vks

Hi
This will probably not really easy to simulate this directly using T3D.
My opinion would be to try to adapt some subroutines to try to represent the effect of the structure...
This mean you need to well represent the structure in your mesh, with a fix plane located at the bottom of the structure. The 2D mesh should include the structure with the thickness.
For the effect of porosity, you have to adapt some subroutine. You could try to look at the discussion

Hope this helps
