Hello,

I would like to find out if temporal varying wind direction can be considered in Telemac. The "wind" example shows temporal varying wind speed (FUAIR & FVAIR). However, direction is not considered.

I would like to include temporal varying wind speed and direction in my simulation as a result, I would like to know if this can be achieved in Telemac.

Regards,
Chijioke.

Hi Chijioke,

WINDX and WINDY are the 2 cartesian horizontal components of the wind (respectively eastwards and northwards).
So it implicitly gives you associated intensity and direction that can both vary in time and space according to provided examples.

I hope it helps.

Laurent

Thank you Laurent.

x = ws * cos (dir)
y = ws * sin (dir)

Yes, you have to compute windx and windy as you wrote.
You just have to be careful for the directional convention: nautical (0 at North) or cartesian (0 at East), and coming from or going towards.
