Hello,

I am trying to understand how "Prescribed elevation" works and affects my simulation. Please what is the difference between free surface and water depth.

From the Telemac3D, I see that Prescribed Boundary is used to set free surface while the boundary file is the water depth.

Regards,
Chijioke

Hi Chijioke,

The relation is as follow:

Hello Laurent,

As a follow-up, please what parameter is specified in the liquid boundary file: depth or free surface?

Regards,
Chijioke.

Hi Chijioke,

For a boundary with prescribed depth, you have to provide the free surface in the liquid boundaries file. You can have a look at the section 4.2.5 (T2D) or 4.3.8 (T3D) of the user manual or the numerous examples using a liquid boundaries file.
Note that Telemac will automatically compute the depth from the bottom and your prescribed free surface values to finally impose the depth.

Laurent
