Hello
I need to simulate 3D flow through a small rectangular channel. I need to use 10 horizontal layers to simulate the flow.
The channel contains 4 sides where the top, bottom and the right hand sides are closed boundary.

The left hand side boundary IS open only for the 5th layer where i can give flowrate. The rest of the layer nodes are closed.

How to apply the boundary condition for this LEFT HAND SIDE BOUNDARY.

Thanks

Hello,

You can try to impose a liquid boundary for the inlet and to edit/use as user_fortran the subroutines user_bord3d.f and user_mesh_transf.f.

user_mesh_transf.f: in order to prescribe elevation of layer 5 (and below layers)
user_bord3d.f: in order to impose 0 velocity at the inlet except for the layer 5.

Just to keep in mind: in some cases, it is not optimal to impose u,v,w = 0 on the wall, in case of turbulent flows for instance. This depends on your case.

Best regards
