Thanks a mil PL for your advice, yes I amended environmental variables and recompiled just in case:) I am still new to the telemac so not sure if I can take shortcuts. Thanks for wishing luck, I think I need it at this stage as I have been battled so long with this problem but I do not think there is another way to extract cross sections but postel, and my files are so huge that I cannot do it on my desk pc anymore. OK, strange, because it worked fine for me.
If you want to try on your desktop PC, try to run a restart computation on only 1 time step (the one for which you want to extract a cross section) so that you can size down your result file...

I guess Yoann will post more info on this thread as soon as the problem is fixed.

Hi!

I have tested to run postel3d with the new release v6p3r2 and the program still fails (with python scripts). I have seen that the postel3d.f subroutine has now been replaced in v6p3r2 by the one yugi posted in post 10480. I successfully compiled the system.

Do you have any idea of what can cause this problem to persist?

Thanks for your help on my previous problem. Just saw your post. My postel3d problem was solved. I use v6p3. It was discovered that postel is not written for parallel use. We experimented a lot, maybe there are some developments since, but for the moment I run case in parallel but when I want to use postel then I run it in scalar. So for example I have ubugfopenmpi and ubugfortrans in my config file, for running the case I use ubugfopenmpi but for postel I switch to ubugfortrans. I hope it gives some guides. I also use python.

Thank you Violetta, but I always used postel in scalar mode, not in parallel. Even the T3D computation has been ran in scalar even though I don't think this would matter. So I don't know what's going wrong...

I am a linux person and have not really worked with new version in windows. I had a very long post with my postel3d problem and Christophe very kindly sorted it for me. See the post address below (if link does not work then it is #10923). It started with problem in parallel setting but then we moved to my scalar postel problem so that is why they title of my post is very misleading but it has a lot of answers on my postel problem and might help other users, but it is on linux. Anyway there are might be some guides for you too. Sorry I cannot help you more but I know how frustrating it could be as I spent one month on parallel instalation myself and it is not perfect yet. Maybe Crhistophe or some telemac-windows expert could help you as well. Good luck! I could attache my config file but I am not sure if it is any good to you as it is for linux set up. The one think I can say for sure that postel3d works fine with version v6p3 in scalar. Let me know if you would like to take a look at my latest cofnig file.

I will try to have a closer look at your configuration if I find time for it but I think that this problem deserves to be fixed for real. The program is working fine up to version 6.2 so I think it should work the same with newer versions, no matter which scripting language is used.

It would be interesting to have the developpers' point of view on that.

Hello,

I tried Postel3D with the test "vent" on Linux with Perl, it works. Maybe you can do the same test, it would tell us if we must look at installation or Fortran ? Then if it works it would be a case specific problem and we would need your files.
