Hello,

I solved the problem regarding the reading of wind file. Now it is correctly read.
But still the run doesn't give me good results.
The simulation stops (properly stay for very long time) at the subroutine called PREADV, and there, in CHARCT.
I have this problem both with stationary and variable (in space and time) wind conditions.
Which could be the parameters to tune/change that influence the advection solver?

Please, you will find attached the cas file.
Thanks for your help in advance.

G

Hello,

This is probably very large velocities somewhere, and the first algorithm to see is the method of characteristics.

First remove:
DYNAMIC BOUNDARY CONDITION = YES
DYNAMIC PRESSURE IN WAVE EQUATION = YES
NUMBER OF SUB ITERATIONS FOR NON LINEARITIES = 2

from your parameter file, it will save time and it is useful only for non linear waves.

Then you have absolutely no diffusion. Try to put an horizontal diffusion of 1. and a vertical turbulence model of 2 (mixing length) with coefficient on vertical 1.E-6. If it works try the k-epsilon model.

With best regards,

Good morning,

with the options you suggested, it doesn't go further than the second time step, as yesterday.

I tried to include friction (friction law=3 and friction coeff=100, very smooth bed) and it works!! :woohoo:

But I don't understand the reason.

Thanks for your help.

Hello Jean-Michel Hervouet,

Sorry for disturbing you on this old post.

I can find WIND_SPD(1) and WIND_SPD(2) in meteo.f, but I cannot find SPEED AND DIRECTION OF WIND in telemac3d.dico or telemac3d_ref_manual_v7p0.pdf , the version I use is v7p0. So how should I apply wind to my 3d model?

Best regards,
Liwei
