Hello,

I would like to simulate a storm event of some hours in the 3D model of "my" bay, in order to check how much time it takes to come back to steady state conditions.

I need to use METEO.f to impose a time variable wind (e.g. I will have always mean wind, except between 9am and 3pm where I have strong wind). The direction of wind remains the same.

I read a lot of posts and checked the subroutines and the examples but I am still a bit confused.

To avoid losing time I would like to check a few things with you...

- I should activate as usual in my cas file the KEYWORD WIND;
- I should include "METEO.f" as it is in my cas file, together with a .txt file where my time-variable conditions are written (--> time, wind_vel_x, wind_vel_y), similar to "fo1_wind"
- I should avoid to add in my cas file the KEYWORD COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE because it will be automatically calculated by TELEMAC using the time variable component of the wind velocity in the .txt file

Is it correct what I summarized? Is tehre something missing?
I use version v6p3 both for 2D and 3D.

I am looking forward for you help! Thanks.

Hello Matta,

What you summarised seems nearly correct to me. Just two small things:

- you'll need to include the METEO.f file in your user routine, and change MY_OPTION to 2 at line 108 for time-varying wind.

- regarding the COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE, you can either give it in your cas file, or you can uncomment the lines 541 to 547 in BORD3D.f so that it is computed according to the wind velocity.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,
Agnès

Hi Agnès,

thank you for the suggestion. I will try!
One small thing: are you referring to version 6.3 (which is the version that I use)?

Cheers, Elena

Unfortunately I always get some error..
Can someone please check my files...?
The error is:

INBIEF (BIEF): NOT A VECTOR MACHINE (ACCORDING TO YOUR DATA)
CHECK: NO ERROR HAS BEEN DETECTED

STRCHE (BIEF): NO MODIFICATION OF FRICTION

NUMBER OF LIQUID BOUNDARIES: 2
TRANSF_ZCHAR:
THE KEYWORD MESH TRANSFORMATION
SHOULD BE EQUAL TO 1

PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR

The fact is that I do not understand the mistake, my boundaries are in fact 2, but they are not liquid boundaries, I set a constant water elevation as initial conditions and as bc a at the outflow and a constant discharge at the inflow.

Thanks!!

Greetings

Hi,

Have you tried to set MESH TRANSFORMATION = 1 instead of 2 in your cas file ? Normally, since you've modified condim, you'll have the plane repartition you want.

Agnès

You mean the layers are not placed as you asked in condim.f?

No, I firstly checked the wind, because it is what I am trying to simulate. The results are wrong regarding the wind...
