How to set different values for different planes? 8 years 6 months ago #21055

Hello, everyone!

I am modeling a problem which is quite similar with the example lock-exchange.
But there is a difference in my case.
If I have 50 planes, I want 20 planes near the bottom to have the flowrate and sediment while 30 plans near the free surface have 0 flowrate and sediment. What should I do in modifying the file bord3d.f? I searched in the manuel and it seems that it has something to do with NPTFR2. I am not quite sure. Does anyone have idea on this?

Great thx!

Hi
What you want id a vertical repartition on planes along the vertical.
There is no relation with bord3d which manage the boundary conditions nor NPTFR2 which is the number (in 2D) of the boundary nodes...

You probably should have a look into calcot.f

Thanks for your reply!

I have already done vertical meshes modifying 'mesh transformation' in condim.f . What I want to do is to set the 30 planes at the top as wall and 20 planes at the bottom as liquid boundary with a flowrate. I think that in my case I should modify bord3d.f, isn't it?

Hope to see your reply, thx!

Hi

This is clearer now.
Instead modifying bord3d, I think you should try modifying vel_prof_z.f
This file will allow you to describe the vertical profile of velocity along the boundary condition...

Hope this helps
