hello,
I want to simulate the dispersion of a tracer (waterwaste rejected by an emissary) with telemac 3d in a castal domain in the atlentic sea but I dont know exactaly what to impose as a bounadary conditions.
is there any suggestions?
think you
At the open boundary set the tracer to 0. If the flow is entering your domain it will be 0, if the flow is exiting the domain the program will turn to a free tracer so that it can exit.

think you so mutch,
just I want to know which parameters would be more significantly influence the direction of the propagation of my tracer (wastewater) whom the source is situated in -30m from the free surface in your opinion ? that could help me to choose the best representative choices in my case (it is the swell , tide , wind, currents ...))??
best regards

Hum, probably the swell is not very effective at this depth, tide is effective but is periodic and will cause only a Lagrangian drift. Wind can definitely have an action (upwelling like on the coasts of Peru). In the channel between France and England it happens that the main cause of drift is the regional currents due to small elevation differences on either sides of the Channel (due to large scale circulations around the world), this would need in your case precise measurements of elevations and velocities at the open boundaries of your model.

Great news: The next TELEMAC User Conference will be organised by Bangor University on the 15th and 16th of October 2025, at the School of Ocean Sciences in Menai Bridge, on the Isle of Anglesey, Wale [ ... ]
