Hi all,

I am running a T2D model using Finite Volumes coupled with Sisyphe with version 7.2. Since this version, T2D uses a new method for writing the results to the result file with GRAPHIC PRINTOUT PERIOD = 100 meaning that results will be written every 100 seconds instead of every 100th time step as standard from before.

When coupling T2D with Sisyphe and if I am not wrong (possible being given the late hour...), it seems that the Sisyphe results are still written every 100th time steps. With FV, this means that huge number of time frames are written (I just filled up the whole disk storage of our computer...). Note that GRAPHIC PRINTOUT PERIOD from the Sisyphe steering file does not seem to be used at all.

Switching to FE is not an alternative.

Any help on this would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Best regards
PL

Hello PL,

Indeed, as you said the GRAPHIC PRINOUT PERIOD for Sisyphe is not the same than Telemac2d’s and it is not possible to use a different GRAPHIC PRINOUT PERIOD for Sisyphe because it does not take it into account (as you said as well). This according to my recently experience.

Considering I am working from a hotstart, in the last days, what I have done is to set a really high GRAPHIC PRINTOUT PERIOD that allows me to capture the last hydrodynamic frame (as minimum) to reduce the size of Sisyphe results file (reducing the amount of frames saved). In my case it is useful, considering that I am not having considerable changes in my hydrodynamics conditions (morphological changes aren’t considerable at all, which allows me to do it).

This is something that needs to be reviewed considering file sizes generated.

Surely Pablo or Cath have more information about it and are working on it or have a solution to it.
Just wanted to leave here my feedback about it.

Cheers,

José Andrés.

Dear José,

Thank you for your feedback. I did not find a proper workaround but one can always use the MAXZ result variable from TELEMAC-2D to obtain the maximal water level during the whole computation even if using a very large GRAPHIC PRINTOUT PERIOD that is suitable for limiting the SISYPHE result file size.

My case is a rainfall simulation with a central peak - so I need to have detailed results outputs during the whole simulation.

It would be great if this new feature can be harmonized between programs that be be coupled.

Best regards
