Hello,

I want to modelise the sispersion of dredge sediment plumes in an harbour. I want to be sure that this modelisation can be made with sisyphe.

If yes, can i have an orientation to begain.

Another question, concerne of the study dispersion with method of tracer source, we can use this also for this thematic?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Yasmina,
You can either:
(1) Use Nestor to model the dispersion of dredge sediments, with this module you will have full control of the dredging/fate operations
(2) Use Sisyphe, easily to implement if the sediment is rejected from a boundary of your model. In this case, you can impose the sediment concentration as done for an inflow boundary condition, for example.

My suggestion, try to explore the use of Nestor and give us your feedback (a number of well-documented cases are located in Sisyphe/Examples).

Hope it helps,

Pablo

Hello Pablo,

Thank you for your reply.

Okay i will study the first option. I don't have a source sediment at boundary, i have a sediment source at the Harbour, so i think that i should use the Nestor.

I will document and try to use this module.
I will comeback with questions if i don't understand something, and with the results if i run it with succes.

Many thanks for your suggestion.

Best regards.

HELLO,

I comeback to you, i have many question that i can't reply my self.
First i don't understand the files below, is it any other manuel where i can check to understand well:

NESTOR ACTION FILE = _DigActions.dat
NESTOR POLYGON FILE = _DigPolys.dat
NESTOR SURFACE REFERENCE FILE = _DigWsp_Prof_09.dat

If i am right, NESTOR calculate the dredging rate with knowledg of surface area of dredging?
But can i implement a value of sediment suspension in point source or an area, this value will be different from drague to another, it's the aim of my intership (analyse wich drague is adequat for dredging with specific condition of tide). Is it possible with NESTOR?.

BEST REGARDS.

Hi,

in the validation document of sisyphe there are 3 nestor examples described, which is like a user manual.
NESTOR ACTION FILE = _DigActions.dat : here the actions (like dredging or dumping, ...) must be described
NESTOR POLYGON FILE = _DigPolys.dat in this file the polygons where the actions are located are defined
NESTOR SURFACE REFERENCE FILE = _DigWsp_Prof_09.dat: this file is only needed if you want that the dredging action is calculated depending on the simulated bottom in respect to a specific surface level which can be defined in this file.

The dredging rate can be given by the user or is calculated from the volume and the dredging/dumping area defined by the polygon.

Nestor will change your bed level. So you always put your material directly at the bottom. Therefore you can not give a concentration.

I hope this helps.
