Hi, I am a new user of telemac-3d. Now,I am trying to simulate the effects of water intake on sediment transport in river channels. It is a part of a river ,and we set up a water entrance at one side. The problem is that my program always stucks at the first step. Here is my telemac-3d case file and sisyphe file. Hope someone can help me. Thank you!

Hello Shan,
I suspect you're having some issues with the imposed boundary conditions.
Why don't you try a preliminary simulation WITHOUT coupling with Sisyphe, just to check if everything is fine with hydrodynamics? (you can even do that in 2D).
Let's us know if things go better.

Best wishes,

Pablo

Hello Pablo,

Before coulping with sisyphe, I had already finished the simulation of hydrodynamics. The results was totally in good agreement with my experimental data. Now I want to add sediment module into my model, but the program always stuck at the first step. I checked the parameters many times and it still did not work.

Best wishes,
Shan

I took a look to your Sisyphe's file.
As you're coupling 3D hydrodynamics processes with sediment transport, why are you solving suspended sediment transport within Sisyphe, which provides the solution the depth-averaged equation? This process must be solved in Telemac-3d.
My suggestions:
(1) proceed step by step. Deactivate the SUSPENDED = YES and associated keywords in SIS and run your case considering only bedload transport
- take a look to you CLI (boundary condition files). Did you set correctly the flag values 4 and 5 for sediment inflow and outflow boundaries? (take a look to the examples).
(2) after solving the problem, proceed by coupling the 3D suspended sediment transport process.
(3) Consider moving to GAIA, the new sediment transport module available from v8p1. Take a look to www.researchgate.net/publication/3361267...EMAC-MASCARET_system

Cheers!

Hi,Pablo

Thanks for your help, now I have solved the problem. As you said before, the problem is caused by boundary condition settings. The sisyphe file and Telemac file should have the same boundary conditions.
Thanks again.

best wishes,
Shan
