Telemac linking problem 13 years 6 months ago #1485

Dear Moderator

I post this new topic because I'm not sure that i posted correctly the last one.

I'm interested in the use of fortran files for the simulation so I tried to run the test cases with this type of file inside. I already ran a test case without fortran file and telemac produces the right results

With fortran file the problem is that I can't link correctly the files. I have the same problem described in topic n. 859, I followed the advise described there:

I reinstall the INTEL fortran compiler and Visual Studio 8 but I still have the problem. I attach here my SET file in order to give you a better reference of the problem.

I hope you can help me. Thanks!

Hi

Once again, a problem with your Compiler installation (Lib and Include path).

Make a full uninstall with a cleaning of the environement variables and try to install one more time.

Thanks for your help,

I tried to reinstall Visual Studio and Intel fortran compiler but i still have the problem. Is necessary to install Visual Studio? Can you be more specific regarding the problem I have?
I do not know where to focus my attention.

I attach once more the set file i have now and the DOS window i get.

Can the problem regarding the link command due to the Path environment variable?Do I need to add in the Path environment variable the dyrectory in wich link.exe file is?

Thanks!

Hi
My opinion is that your link problem comes from the /nodefaultlib:libc.lib option.
I suppose this file is unknown in your system.

Please check if this file exist and what is this exact position in your system.

In your environment variables, without anymore information about your computer, I think some information are missing in front of LIB and INCLUDE parameters and maybe also in PATH.
PATH: [...] C:\Programmi\Intel\Compiler\Fortran\10.1.025\\IA32\Lib
This value should be found in LIB not in PATH. In PATH you should found bin at the end. And similar value, with include at the end instead of lib should also exist in INCLUDE.

Are you sure you're trying to execute Telemac in a command windows open in the Start/program/intel software.../intel fortran compiler.../build environment... ?

Hi,

I decided to give as much information as I can, in order to fix my problem. Thanks for your patience.

I did some manipulations in my Path so I decided to disinstall once more all the Visual Studio package (Included Intel Visual Fortran Compiler and Intel Math Kernel Library). After a cleaning of the environment variables carried out with CCleaner, I obtained the set file I attach here. Before to reinstall the package, I looked for libc.lib file and I found it in the following directory:

C:\Programmi\MATLAB\R2008a\sys\lcc\lib

I hope this information helps you.Now I'm ready to reinstall all the package but before to do this, please tell me if some element (expecially Math Kernel Library or Visual Studio) is not necessary in order to achieve the correct functioning of TELEMAC. I will check after that step if LIB INCLUDE and PATH environment variables are set in the right way in the sense you described me in the last post.

I'm launching TELEMAC with FUDAA. Is there a problem??Why do I need to launch TELEMAC in a command window?I'm using the confluence example. Tell me plese how to launch TELEMAC in this way.

I appreciate your help, Thanks!

Hi
About the package you should install. I think its not necessary to install IMKL but normally that don't affect the installation. For Visual Studio, it's often require to install it before the Compiler and normal necessary for the link command (which is not include in the compiler).
It's possible that the launch of Telemac from fudaa generate the problem due to the special way Intel manage the compiler installation.

It could be interesting to try to run telemac without Fudaa to avoid such problems.

After the installation, you open the start menu and you choose programs, then Intel Software developments tools, then Intel Fortran compiler and finally Build environment for IA32 applications.
In the command windows that should be open by the previous manipulation, you just have to change the directory, in order to move to the confluence directory and then you just have to type telemac2d -s cas.txt

Good luck
