open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Dear Sir,
as a novice user I have downloaded wintels_v6p1 Version:v6p1from compiled codes available in telemac page, to use it in scalar mode for my 32bit windowsxp system. When extracted a setup file is generated and after that donot know how to go from here. Where to adjust systel.ini Version:v6p1 file or systel.cfg Version:v6p1 as a setup file only generated;What else scripting language or compilers are necessary and what changes are to be done in which file for this particular version to run is not exactly clear in installation page nor in forum. Whether perl or python ; fortran compiler optionally or both scripting language and fortran compiler etc .required before proceeding not expressly detailed. So please help me install and enable to execute.Thanks.

my query remain yet unanswered which i find really amazing.I presume there are so many kind and knowledgeable users in telemac community who would like to help in my problem.I am really struggling to get going in this and would appreciate any generosity shown in this regard deeply. The installation page instructions are really confusing for fresh users like me worldwide which definitely impedes the very cause of users' community.anticipating quick reply..thanks

please ,please make such a powerful tool user friendly. I am a new user interested in telemac2d &3d but now fed up with the strenuous effort at trying to instal without success even for a simple compiled version after trying for over a month,reading volumes of articles in forum,contacting so many persons from computer science and other expertise. but unfortunately not any direct guidelines available for its installation in a scalar version in windows32 xp system.If even the computer experts struggle to get the simplest version installed then one can imagine the plight of a civil\hydraulics engineer in handling the issue. Moreover the energy and effort should be channelised in getting good simulations run, good hydrodynamics understood rather than wasting valuable research time in getting the package installed.Hope this appeal makes some sense with the authorities and some clear cut instructions be laid out soon instead of current hit & trial method of installation. Let such a robust tool not be useless for want of a few to the point exact guide lines and let the engineering community and hydraulics research not miss out on the benefit from its immense potential! thank you all.

please note that we are currently working on a multi-platform installer and that with the arrival of the new version of tortoise SVN and gfortran for Windows (with options comparable to Linux) we can now provide a multi-platform open source solution. If you can wait until July, we are planning to deliver that "modern installer" to the public with 6.2.

In the mean time, I assume you have read the installation instuctions (python version recommended) under Documentations / Installations ...

thank you for your compassionate and prompt response. I along with scores of researchers are definitely looking forward to such a date when we will be spared the labor of getting telemac installed rather than using the tool for furthering scientific interest in the field of hydrodynamic simulation. However may I request you Sir, to kindly instruct me regarding the very straight forward procedure(if there is any ) of getting telemac v6p1 installed in its basic compiled version with win32 xp system in a scalar mode in view of my Ph.D. thesis submission in month of sept\oct 2012 . I just need the plain compiled version running in absence of any sophisticated alternative for the time being considering the emergency that I face. Hope to listen from you soon in this regard. Thanks again.

First of all, I think you're a little bit insistent in your post. You're on a forum where users deliver advice for free.
If you're in a hurry and want a formal answer in a short time, you could ask for specific assistance (you should pay for that but you will have an answer).

Secondly, you wrote each time that the installation procedure is not available or too poor. You wrote also you spend a lot of time to read all the posts and try to install but your eldest post is only 6 days!
Since the beginning of the freeware/open source distribution, we've got more than 2000 people who download and install telemac without any difficulties. So our installation procedure should be not so bad.

Finally, when I read in your post that the error message you have is 'windows can not locate telemac2d.bat', for me that just means you didn't update your path! So the problem is not necessary in the telemac installation but maybe also in the may you manage your computer.
Try to add the telemac/bin directory in your path and the simulation will probably run well.
