open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hello friends,

I am experiencing a problem to run telemac3d heat exchange model with tidal flats dry areas.

When I run a case without dry areas the model works well, but if dry areas occurs the model crashes with this error:

I believe that I am not set the correct configuration for using heat exchange model with tidal flats. I attached my configuration files to check.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Hi,
We have also experienced this kind of issues, it is related to a numerical instability that shows up when using heat exchanges with the atmosphere + active tracers + tidal flats. At the moment I can only advise you to lower the value of your time step size and use the option 1 for heat exchanges with the atmosphere...

Thank you for your suggestion, I will try option 1 for heat exchanges with atmosphere and set a lower time step.

I also noted that heat exchange model does not works with salinity as active traces, even without dry areas. Do you have any suggestions on how to configure the heat exchange model to apply salinity as active tracers?

The same problem also bothered me for a while but after some trial and error I found a solution, that's using k-e model and refine the mesh as much as possible, and as Agnès mentioned, lower the time step accordingly. It works perfectly in my case at least, hope it also does for yours @taoan
