Hello,

I am modelling an estuary with variable bottom; downstream is deeper than upstream region. My 2 river boundaries are forced by discharge and the estuary mouth by water level.

I noticed that the water elevation in the output file is almost uniform across the estuary despite the mouth being deeper (~12m bottom) than the uptream region (~4m).

Any idea why my model is behaving like this or how to correct it?

Kind regards.

Hi
You should illustrate what you said and what you expect according to measurements.
It will be better if you join your case
Many possibilities, wrong boundary values, not enough friction or dissipation...

Hi,

I will review my friction coefficient as it is my main calibration term.

As illustrated, the bottom file shows a deeper upstream region. Based on water level measurement at the downstream, I expect the free surface to be shallower upstream.

Kind regards.

Hi
The bottom seems to have a very strange shape...
It looks like more like a water heigth than a real bottom value...
Are you sure about those values?

Hi,

The measurement is bottom relative to Ordnance Datum (MSL).

Kind regards.

So it's water height!
you should convert those values to obtain a real bathymetry level.
If you would stay in MSL, you should reverse those values
