Hello,

Classical error. As it is written "simulation en Francais" because the first keyword of the steering file is in French, but you have at least one keyword not known (at least WATER QUALITY PROCESS) because not in French, but English.

Do you know the dictionaries available in the sources folders (*.dico) or the reference manuals, available in the documentation folders or e.g. here : wiki.opentelemac.org/doku.php?id=documentation_v8p1r0

Moreover, if you use release 8.1, the numbering of the water quality processes has changed since a few versions. You should then read the WAQTEL user manual.

I tried already:

1- When ran hydrodynamics is working.
2- When ran hydrodynamics and temperature without waqtel is working.
3- Differents time step
4- Refine the mesh

With dry zones, the ATMOSPHERE-WATER EXCHANGE MODEL = 2 currently does not work.

You could try ATMOSPHERE-WATER EXCHANGE MODEL = 1 either, it may better work with dry zones.

Does ATMOSPHERE-WATER EXCHANGE MODEL = 2 work for the latest version on the trunk ?

If not, do you know what it is that is causing the problem ? Is your team actively looking at it ? I can't see anything on CUE.

No fix for ATMOSPHERE-WATER EXCHANGE MODEL = 2 and tidal flats for the trunk.
It is on our todo list of bugs to solve. But any help is welcome.

Does not work either :( with ATMOSPHERE-WATER EXCHANGE MODEL = 1
I would like to ask something, What is the difference between run exchange without coupling with water quality, and run with waqtel? The way to board boundary conditions? why you are suggesting tidal flat?
For me is not clear which exactly it is the numerical problem, I am working in my thesis and I want to understand and help.
I am doing a real case in a reservoir and first of all, I was trying with a small example.

I tried to change the keyword FORMATTED DATA FILE 1 for ASCII ATMOSPHERIC DATA FILE And new error appear, I saw this suggestion in another post.

If you want to use the features described in the WAQTEL technical manual (or WAQTEL theory guide) available in wiki.opentelemac.org/doku.php?id=documentation_v8p1r1
In your case, if you may want to use the THERMIC module (see chapter 6), you will be able to compute boundary conditions and source terms for a complete balance of exchange fluxes, but you need to couple with WAQTEL. If not, you will only solve a classical advection-diffusion equation for temperature with classical boundary conditions at open and solid lateral boundaries and nothing special with the free surface (in particular the exchange with atmosphere).

I talked about tidal flats o know if you have some in your models or not (area that could be always or sometimes dry).
Because if you have some, the complete balance of heat fluxes does not currently work with dry areas.

I try to sumup:
- you use v8p1r1 version?
- your test case with hydro alone, and dry zones => OK
- your test case with hydro and temperature (as a passive or active tracer?) => OK
- your test case with hydro, temperature and waqtel (heat exchange at the atmosphere = 1) => NOK

Did you try a testcase with hydro+waqtel+heat exachange=1) without dry zones?
