Hi all!

I am running cases for Telemac 3D models coupled with WAQTEL evaluating temperature exchange to the atmosphere.

The model works quite well when comparing with measured temperatures.

However parts of the water body periodically freezes over. I have not found a clear cut way to take this into account through WAQTEL, the heat exchange with the atmosphere through the surface should be quite affected for the parts of the domain which are covered in ice.

Has anyone else encountered this and might have some tips for me?

Perhaps some of you more experienced Telemac modellers with better insight into the source code might have some ideas regarding this?

It would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on the matter!

Best regards

Hello,

Can you send your ASCII ATMOSPHERIC DATA FILE or a sampleif too big please? In particular if some events appear with an air temperature close to 0 degree C and tell me around when you observe issues.

If remember, I have never run a computation with "too low" temperatures.

In your model, parts of the domain are covered by ice, but no water below I guess? Do you model these iced parts with tidal flats?

What is exactly done in the heat exchange with atmosphere is described in the WAQTEL technical manual (or theory manual) available since release 8.1:
wiki.opentelemac.org/doku.php?id=documentation_v8p1r1

I wonder if it is not a problem of latent heat.
