Hello,

I want to represent the spatial distribution of shear stress in the domain, including vertical variation. I am using the Nikuradse friction theory for bottom friction (logarithmic treatment). I know I can use the 2D printout "US" to show distribution along the bed (and I think *only* on the bed, if I'm right?). However I have assigned head losses at various locations throughout the vertical domain and I'm interested in seeing the distribution of those shear stresses also.

Am I right in thinking I need to assign a new 3D printout if I want to see shear stresses at my regions with head losses? If so, how would I go about doing this?

Many thanks!

Hello SDAC,

If I understand, you want to add a new variable to your 3D result file as a variable is not available for the result file..

You can then read the "Adding a new output variable" of the TELEMAC-MASCARET system Developer Guide (e.g. in $HOMETEL/documentation/Misc/developer_guide folder or wiki.opentelemac.org/doku.php?id=documentation_latest in Miscellaneous Manuals section of the webpage.

Hope this helps,

You can use one of the 4 variables let free for the user: P1, P2, P3, P4 for the VARIABLES FOR 3D GRAPHIC PRINTOUTS instead of adding a new choice in the dictionary.

You can have a look at $HOMETEL/examples/telemac3d/bump/user_fortran/user_preres_telemac3d.f where a new variable is created for the 2D result file in that case.

Hope this helps,
