Dear Users,

I hope somebody could give advice on my query. I have to create a source on 1 vertical level with discharge of 5m3/s and velocities: x=0.5 and y=0. So far I succeeded in this. But I also need to specify the size of the source as 1m high and 10m wide and I do not know how to do that, it maybe be not possible to do as a source. If I specify this area as an open boundary then when I create the vertical mesh then open boundary would apply across all vertical levels till the surface, would not it? I would like to avoid it as I need just a wide source of water coming up from the bottom, something like a plume of water from the source. Please advise how can I achieve this. Thank you.

Kind Regards!

Hello,

You cannot really specify that, you just give the discharge and it will be entered on one point with its own volume around, so supposedly when we have a source it has a dimension smaller than the mesh size. However, if you specify velocities at the source to take into account the momentum entered by the source, it will be the discharge divided by the section at the exit and here your dimensions will have an influence.
