Hello everybody,

I'm trying to model a section of a river in Telemac3d where there are bridge piers.
My question is how to represent the variable section along the vertical of the piers.

Thank you.

Hello,

Sorry for the late answer.

Unfortunately we cannot do 3D masking yet -- it is on our todo list though. It is theoretically possible but we have not tested all parts of the code yet.

You can either have steep slope (instead of your vertical wall) for the bottom part of your pier, or you can balance where the boundary defining your pier is, between the bottom and top parts, depending on your water level.

For illustration, I have attached an example I worked on several year ago.

Hope this helps nonetheless,

Sébastien.

Hello !

if I want to do a section like in the pictures attached, how can I do?
I usually use BK to generate the mesh and creating Hardlines in the mesh generator, but these hardlines have a fixed elevation.
Sorry for the question but this elevation, must be the upper portion of the pier or the lower portion?

Can you share the Telemac3d file of the images that you have attached?

Thank you for your help.

Stefano

Hello,

Unfortunately I cannot share the file.

The mesh is at the bottom of what you wish to model, so if you use the mesh to model the top part of the middle bit of your pier, you have to have a steep slope to join-down that "flat" bit of the pier with the bottom bathy around the pier. The rest of the pier can then be an island.
You have to use constrained lines, and do you bathymetry interpolation on these lines carefully.

Hope this helps,
Sébastien.
