How is Hydrostatic inconsistency taken care NUMERICALLY?

How are the governing equations modified to overcome this issue?

Hello,

It is just that active tracer gradients are cancelled in zones where the mesh is too much distorted or in tidal flats. For example in a prism if one bottom point is higher than a top point, we cancel the gradients because this is a hint that we are on a dry slope with flattened elements.
