Version numbers are certainly a mystery for some people, yes that's true! But no, version 3.6-beta went to version 3.7-beta and then to version 3.8-beta all in a nice orderly fashion over a period of a few months, not 1 week ;)

Kindly,
Alan

I am quite in favour of creating a Blue Kenue announce mailing list ;)

Kindly,
Alan

Hello,

OK - I can create a "This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." ... but it would be hard to be inclusive of all who are interested

... unless you can send me the list of users who downloaded blue-kenue through the nrc website so far (and in the future.

... or (if NRC is OK) we can even distribute BlueKenue on this website (therefore using the already-in-place user registration of the site) ...

food for thoughts.

Sébastien.

I imagine that one post in the BK forum pinned at the top of the list would suffice for most purposes, except for very intermittent users perhaps.

Following an acknowledged correction, in one message above please read "I am happy to see within one week that BK moved..." in place of "I am happy to see that within one week we moved ..."

Look forward to seeing the new BK on-line. For the time being this thread has provided thorough enough information, as far as I am concerned. Thanks.

I sent and e-mail myself. I am fed up with pleading for a new version. If there is going to be a release, let us know if and when. I am close at dropping BlueKenue altogether. I have already migrated my post-processing to python. Meshing with BK has been a pain with the 3.4.4 and I plan to migrate this to python as well.

I work for a government organization (not a business) that is making Blue Kenue freely available. As with all governments, there are rules surrounding what can and cannot be done.

Martin made Blue Kenue freely available for a long time. He has also made Green Kenue available for a long time. And NRC is currently making them both available for free. And if you asked for information from NRC, you too would know how to access the latest developments in Blue Kenue for free at any time you wish to look.

I am sorry that you find the mesher in 3.4.4 to be "a pain". That is why I am improving it in the latest development version. Feel free to send me an email with your gripes and let me know more precisely what problem(s) you have with the latest development version that is still being improved.

That is all I can do... I have a family and kids and only so many hours during a day while I am at work. If that's not good enough for you, getting free things, then I really don't know how to help you further.

Kindly,
Alan

Hello Alan,

Please don't get me wrong. I know that you do work on it and I greatly appreciate what you have accomplished. All I asked was to share the development with us. We are an open source community used to work at the edge of development and tackle bugs.

BK development would be sped up if the latest version was posted in the forum and issues were allowed to be discussed openly. I personally understand your workload at work (and at home ) and I don't ask more of you. In fact I am proposing to let me (and the community) help you.

The rest, I will discuss them with you in the "shadow" of the community, where the discussion about BK development takes place. Unfortunately, there are rules.

Best regards,
Costas

If this can help the conversation progress, I did receive access to version 3.8.4 by lodging a query (see opentelemac.org/index.php/kunena/blue-ke...4?limitstart=0#24908). Apparently, the part about sharing the newest developments with the www has been neglected. The chance that this will be taken care of could grow if there is a critical mass of requests, for some definition of critical. At least this is a hope.

I have also lodged a complaint-query and waiting for a reply. May I ask, if you are allowed to discuss, if you obtained access to the a folder where the latest development version is put, or to the latest version at the time of request?

For my Part,

I am very appreciative of the availability of Blue Kenue and Green Kenue
as freeware which has very much helped in the application of TELEMAC and other software and use it as a project teaching tool to undergraduate engineers in UL Ireland and encourage both Martin and Alan to keep up the good work make representations reminding those in authority over the software at the NRCC how widely used it is within the openTelemac community and that any updates to the software are most welcome appreciated and invaluable to telemac users.

Regards

Tony C
