Hello BK fans

I downloaded the new released version of BK 3.8.
Even though this is a beta version (and I'm well placed to know that it could be unstable), I see that BK freezes very often. It happens during postprocessing of results, or when generating meshes (it happened once), or after a period of inactivity (BK remains open while I work on other tasks with ohter tools).

Do you have same observations ?

kind regards

Riadh

Hi Riadh
I also downloaded the beta version.
I started to use it without any problem for me.
Just a small display bug (already reported to martin) with large coordinates which generate some rounding errors if you display the object before shifting it to the local coordinate system...

Christophe

Hi Riadh,

There is no inherent reason for Blue Kenue 3.8 to be unstable even tho it is labeled as a BETA.

If you can define a particular sequence of operations that repeatedly causes a freeze I will be better placed to debug the problem. The mesh generation is a good example. If you can send me a t3m file that would help.

Which version of windows are you running? Are your video drivers up to date? We have often found over the years that weird hangs and freezing was caused by faulty video drivers. Something about the way OPENGL interacts with windows.

Cheers... Martin

Hi Martin,
Just to add,
the 3.8 beta version that I have installed on my windows 10 computer seems to have more difficulty in the triangular mesh generation than the previous version returning warning messages and failing for particular polygons to mesh properly leaving a big hole in the middle for a relativley simply polygon and only one density (1m). I also found when I mapped say contour data or a triangulation using map object on to the mesh object and save it as a triangular mesh it fails to save the newly mapped contour data and when the mesh is reopened it has only the mesh density information and not the mapped contour data. I also found that the calculation tool say when one subtracts one similar mesh from another (i.e. a-b) does not save the information.

It does appear to present the Telemac 2d selfin results and animation correctly and stably for me in any case

So just a warning to others I would recommend not getting rib just yet of the previous version 3.4.4 as the beta version from my experience appears to have glitches in the mesh generation and mapping options.

Hi All
Thank you Martin, Christophe and Tony.

Martin's explanation could hold in my case. I'm using my professional windows 8 which has at lots of out-of-date features and mainly lots of locks to install several tools (so I guess also drivers).
BK freeses mainly a while after opening large serafin files or in the middle of mesh generation.
I will try it on my personal laptop to see if these issues remain.

with my best regards

Riadh
