Hi,

I'm facing a problem regarding the boundary conditions which results in a not running model. I like to connect the boundaries (picture attached) so that there is no solid wall in between.
How can I realize that?

Thanks in advance

Hi
You should add a node between the two boundaries

You mean like this?

This results in this failure when running the model.
FRONT2 : ERROR AT BOUNDARY POINT 45
   |
   | SOLID POINT BETWEEN TWO LIQUID POINTS

Sorry
In fact you need 2 nodes to define a solid boundary (between the 2 nodes)

I tried this as well, but then I get the same issue which I get if there is no node between them. This is the failure code.
@STREAMLINE::SCARACT: THE NUMBER OF TRACEBACK INTERFACE CROSSINGS IGEN > 99

PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR
 RETURNING EXIT CODE: 2

I just attached the boundary conditions file. My there is something wrong with this.

Did you use Thompson method on the boundaries?
I think your model is not fully closed (at the boundary condition level).
2 boundaries are free and 1 just with water level.
You'll probably miss some information on velocities at boundary which leads to an undetermined system...
The error message comes from the characteristic method, the solver couldn't find the foot of characteristic. Sometimes, Thompson help...

Ok thanks.
I will try Thompson now but I had some issues with Thompson before.
I did some workaround at my boundary conditions and attach them again.
I just wonder if 444 is a right boundary definition. I like to have boundaries which are open without any definitions, since this is the ocean and I just like to have the tide in the southern part.

Hi there again,

I used Thompson now and could run the model without a node between the boundaries (see the file attached).
Only problem I have now that there are a lot of instabilities in the model, which I do not really understand. I asked this question here.

Hi
As I wrote, you probably have a system with an infinite number of solution as you just manage the water level on 1 liquid boundary.
Try to let the lateral boundary as solid and see what happens.

Hi,

Thanks for this help.
I already tried to leave the the lateral boundaries as wall but that influenced to model to much.

Is there another option which I could try instead of increasing the model area as long as the boundary does not have any influences?
