Hello,

I have results of a 3way coupled model (T2D, TOMAWAC, SISYPHE) and like to create a cross sectional view at a defined area.
Is this possible with BK? If not is there another way to get a cross sectional view without running all my models again?

Thank in advance

Hi,

With BK, you can first define a line along which you want to extract your results, resample it at a resolution similar to the size of your mesh elements in the area, then select the variables you want to interpolate along this line (current velocity for instance), and Tools -> Extract TimeSeries --> Along a line, and select your line.
You will obtain the values of the velocity field interpolated on the points of your line for each time step.

I hope it helps.

Laurent

Hi,

Thank you very much. If I understand it correctly this option will obtain the interpolated velocity at each mesh point. What I am looking for is more something like I have attached here to get an overview of the whole velocity in the cross section. Not sure if this is possible.

Clemens

Hi,

You're using 2D (depth-averaged) models, you can't have results to display at different vertical levels as illustrated on your example.

Hi,

that is what I thought, but I was not sure since the bathymetry is given in 3D, but of course the formulas are just 2D. So I would need to change the model to 3D to get this kind of results, right?

The bathymetry is also a 2D field as you only have one value of the bottom elevation for a given location.

The right question isn't what kind of representation you want but what physics you have to model? are the processes in your area of interest 2D or 3D?

The process in the area of interest are 3D but as a simplification it has been decided to set up a 2D.
Maybe I will take the time in future to set up the area of interest in a 3D model to gain more detailed results.
