I want to extract the maximum value of any object with respective to time and also want to know the node id or co-ordinates at which the maximum value occurs at that particular time period.

Example

time (hrs) max value (m) node id
3 0.02 5
6 0.15 10
9 0.25 7
......................................
.......................................

I will be very grateful if any one can help ma at this point.

Hi Subhasri,

If I open a *.slf file then a number of objects will be displayed in the workspace. If I double click on, for example, a 2D T3 Scalar Mesh object then its properties are displayed. Selecting the "Data" tab will show the available attributes and their min/max values.

Alternatively, under Tools -> Extract Surface -> Temporal Maximums might be what you are looking for?

It is hard for me to know what, exactly, to suggest given that there are quite a lot of objects that each have their own behaviour in Blue Kenue. Perhaps if you start by consulting the Blue Kenue manual and picking one of the file types... then share that small file with us and explain what you would like to do specifically? That would make it easier to help us answer your general question...

Kindly,
Alan

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
According to your explained way, I can get the maximum and minimum values of any attribute. But I also want to extract the node ids at which the maximum and minimum value occur. How can I get that?

Please help at the earliest.

Hi
In my opinion, it's only possible with an external program you create for such task...
But this is not necessary as simple as it seems. What is the result you want if at a given time you have more than 1 point which reach the maximum value?

Regards
Christophe

Hi,

I didn't try it really and it is long time ago but maybe the "crunch" method in runselafin.py is what you are looking for.

Example of use:

runselafin.py crunch -v TIME_OF_PEAK input.slf output.slf

Best regards,
Clemens

At a particular time, maximum value occurs at a particular node id. as the time proceeds the max value corresponding to that time period occurs at different node. So I want to know the location of node id at different time period where the max value of a particular aspect occurs.

In reality you will most likely have a maximum value show up at a number of different nodes at each timestep and those nodes and their number, along with the max value will vary depending on the progress of the simulation.
As Christophe pointed out, the best solution will be to write an external program.

Alan: this would be easy in pyEnSim.

Thanks for the feedback Martin; luckily I am in the processes of creating a new "pyEnSim Community" on CHyMS  but only if there is interest from the community...
