Hello Barton,

I got the link for Blue Kenue 3.11.5 - alpha 64 bit from your mail.
I use Windows 7 OS.
I have faced a few problems in the 3.11.5-alpha release

1)I got a problem reading a shapefile which contains bathymetry.
The older version 3.3.10 full release did well in this aspect.
I didn't change the shapefile and used the same file which I used in the older 3.3.10 version.
The shapefile was generated in Arc GIS.

2)Importing Mike21 mesh file gives me an error.

I attach few screenshots here.

Can you look into the problem and help me out.
I can still revert back to the older version.

Thanks,
With Kind Regards,
Buckle S

3.11.5 is an alpha version and as such you can expect to face issues
- as with all software; beta versions tend to have fewer issues than alphas

Taking screen snapshots is helpful and may lead to solutions
- however, if you take your time and provide raw data and/or a Blue Kenue workspace it may help me to feel more like helping you... and may lead to faster solutions...

Kindly,
Alan

PS In the future do not send me and email and then copy+paste the email you sent me into a forum post. Especially since I replied to you via email. Pick one or the other and do not do both. Doing both will likely annoy me and result in me putting your request on the bottom of my very, very large pile of work... so maybe I won't really feel like helping you out...

PPS Also, do not bottom post on other people's topics. I have fixed that for you

Hello Barton,

Sorry about that. After sending you the mail. I saw a forum post on the 3.11.5 alpha version and I thought it would be helpful to others if I reposted in the forum. This will not happen in future.

Thank you for spending some of your time helping me out.

Thanks again,

Buckle S

First thing I've noticed is that this version of Blue Kenue is writing incorrect attribute indices. I've fixed it in the code base so it will be fixed in the next alpha release.

For example,
:AttributeName 0 XXX
:AttributeType 0 XXX

should be:
:AttributeName 1 XXX
:AttributeType 1 XXX

in the EnSim files on disk. Note that the indices are 1-based and not 0-based.

Sorry about that.

I'll have a look at the other issues as time permits in the near future

The *.shp file has an extremely large Z extent when I look at the header record during debugging Blue Kenue
MIN: -1.7976931e+308
MAX: -1.7976931e+308

The *.dbf file contains different values than what I see based on the data:
MIN: -3065.9399414062500
MAX: 7.1491699218750000

What are the expected min/max values for Z? I presume the -3066 to 7.2 range is what is expected...

Looks like M may not have any values at all. I have changed Blue Kenue to relax a little and accept this situation
- i.e. in this example to allow an attribute (M) that has all of its 611,376 values as bad data values

So this means that your shape file now loads in Blue Kenue (no installer... for you... yet)

I'll have a look at your mesh now...

Kindly,
Alan

And your Mike21 mesh now loads for me too

So both fixes (along with a small improvement to the tool tip on the mesh in order to show ALL attribute values) will be available in the next alpha release of Blue Kenue

Alan
