Hi,

I am performing 2D TELEMAC model for an urban area. I have a 1x1 m resolution DEM. Thus, I would like to have the mesh triangle side length 1m.
I applied this on an area 1x1 km and it took time but worked.
Now, I am working on a more powerful computer and increased the simulation area. The number of nodes is 8840419 but it takes a too long time to generate the mesh ( more than two days until now and it only reached 63%). The Blue Kenue is only using a few amounts of the available RAM, CPU,... I would like to ask if there is a way to make it faster, or is it another way to generate mesh faster.

Thanks in advance
Best regards.

Blue Kenue was started about 20 years ago by my predecessor. It is mainly a single-threaded application.

If you have funding to support me changing to a parallel implementation then please send gobs of money my way. Truck fulls would certainly gets things moving for you! ;)

Thanks for using the freely available Blue Kenue, hope you find it helpful/useful

Kindly,
Alan

Hello,

Just for the sake of completness, you have a few options beside the always reliable Bluekenue; but they do need extra work to setup or use (within telemac).

One that comes to my mind is the legendary Triangle library..

Not sure if the code posted there is still up, you'll need to look for forks.

Regards,

José Díaz.

Hi Guys,

Another mesher to try is Qmsh. I have seen reports that is quite efficient.

Without seeing your t3m file it's hard to make suggestions as to how to speed things up.

However, one approach would be to break up the meshing task and then "Edit->T3 Mesh->Merge Mesh..." the various bits together.

Hope this helps... Martin
