This is a regression from previous version...
Running version : BK 3.12.2

I have 2 lines from a shapefile with both a correct spatial projection assigned (screenshot 1).

When I put them in a T3 Channel Mesher by copy/pasting them from view, the projection is lost (screen 2).

It results in a generated channel without projection and when I put this generated channel in a mesh generator, it fails to generate because of the submesh with the wrong proj.

Thanks for reporting this!

Can you pass me your files? Then I can attempt to exactly reproduce the steps that you are taking... and try to see the same things that you see... if I understand them correctly, of course!

Kindly,
Alan

I packed all lines but you will easily find some left and right banks.

Tell me if you need anything else !

I see... copying a line and pasting it into the workspace as a new line means that the projection is lost. Ok... I'll investigate!

Kindly,
Alan

  1. File > Import > ArcINFO / ArcView > ArcView Shape File
  2. select lc.shp and OPEN
  3. select OK when DONE importing
  4. drag lc data object onto a 2D View
  5. double click on a line so that it is selected
  6. Edit > Line Set > Copy
  7. Edit > Line Set > Create New LineSet from Paste Buffer
  8. Fill in details and press OK
  9. Double click new data object and check the Spatial tab

The next release of Blue Kenue alpha will have this new enhancement.

I usually directly paste the copied line in right or left bank in T3 channel mesher. Is the next alpha will fix this ? Or wiil I need to create this intermediate object to have a correct projected channel mesher ?

I fixed that one too; so you should be able to choose which way you'd like to do it... they should both work now.

By the way, just to be clear, this is an enhancement and not a regression because it was never working before!

Kindly,
Alan

Thanks !

Well strange, I never had this projection issue in previous version. I will try to find a previous BK installer and check what was the behavior is this case.

Just for my knowledge, is there an expected date for 3.12.3 ?

As with most free things in life; you get what you pay for! Oh boy... what a response, right?

Ok, seriously though, if you'd like me to do it for you now then please pay me to do it. Otherwise, the release will happen after I finish my paid contract work for Green Kenue...

Kindly,
Alan
