Using BK to generate a mesh for telemac 2d, you get 'bow tie' points for long, thin islands (width<mesh size, roughly speaking).
These points are simply 2 elements connected by a single node, (see attached slf file, at, e.g 2.96W and 58.85N). I think telemac2d doesnt like (falls over in bief) these points (nor adcirc); if I delete surrounding elements, things seem to get better.
Am I missing something simple, or is there something simple I can do in BK or Telemac? (I have a matlab file to identify the points from the bc2 file, and could write one to correct the slf file)
All the best Pete Bowyer

Hi

no attached files so difficult to see...
Is your island meshed or a real island outside of the computational domain?
If it's meshed, this could be logical and you should adapt your criterion
If not, this is probably dur to the automatic resample of the boundary. Put this island as a hard line (instead of soft line) eventually after a manual resample of the line. This should solve this problem

Hi, here's a screenshot of the problem that I was having (specifying the coast as a soft line. I have outlined the 'bowtie' points in green, coast is blue.
I tried specifying the coast as a hard line, and there were still 2 points like this; but I edited them out in BK and telemac2d ran.
Also tried setting depth of proiblem nodes to land, but no good;
I would imagine that this occurs frequently (also a problem in adcirc) is there a switch on the .cas file for this?
Many thanks

Hi
Yes but this is clearly a problem of mesh size and outline of the island

Try to simplify your outline according to the mesh size first or use a smaller mesh size locally ...
