Hello everyone

We are trying to generate with Blue Kenue a new mesh around a submesh extracted from a geo file but we keep getting an error message that reads "Fatal Error : Minimum Edge length = 0.0".

What is odd is that we also tried with different outlines inside the original submesh and it sometimes manages to create a new global mesh with that sub-submesh, sometimes it doesn't with the same error message popping up and we can't really figure out why.

Extracting all the nodes from the submesh and generating a new mesh (with those nodes as hard points) actually work but we would have to regenerate lots of channel meshes for roads and rivers and/or densify many areas to clean the mesh up, so we're looking for a solution which uses the submesh.

Any help will be appreciated

Hi
Not easy to well understand what you want to do exactly without an illustration...

If you want to use the extract mesh inside a larger area, normally, you just have to put the extract mesh as a submesh and it should works.

If you want to mesh an area inside a global mesh, you should extract the the shoreline and use it as an outline and merge both mesh at the end.

Thanks for your answer.

We are trying to use the extract mesh as a submesh but on this instance, this procedure doesn't work. We divided the extract mesh into several meshes and try to use them individually as submesh, which works or not (the edge length error pops up) but we can't tell what's allowing the procedure to go through in some cases an not in the others.

could you give some illustration?
Did you try to use "hard lines" with the submesh?

The message clearly indicate that there is an edge lenght which is equal to 0 (due to density or duplicate points somewhere)

Hi slj,

This error comes up if:
1. you have coincident points in one or more of hard points, hard lines or sub-meshes.
2. you have turned off outline resampling and there are coincident points in the outline.
3. there is a zero value in the density object. (possibly a polygon with a value of 0)

Remember the purpose of 1&2 is to allow the user to exactly specify the location of nodes in the final mesh.

Please post your t3m file here so we dcan better help you.

I deleted unused nodes in the submesh and it worked.

Thanks to both of you.
