Hi, everyone,

I want to add levees (flood wall) which lie on the two sides of the river and about 2.5m high, how can I add this structure in BlueKenue for telemac2D? can I set the width ( the thickness of the flood wall) of the levee?

Any help will be appreciated!

Best regards!

Hi yajuan,

If the levees are not going to overtop then represent them as islands.
If they are going to overtop then use hard lines or thin submeshes built with the channel mesher.

Hope this helps... Martin

Dear Martin,

I have tried the hard lines as flood wall in BK, I found when I created an open line, which need me to give a value for it, is this value the height of the flood wall? then I tried to add a value much bigger than the elevation of the banks. however, when I check the telemac2d results, I found there is little influence with or without hardline. am I wrong somewhere?

Any help will be appreciated!

Hi Yajuan,

Any value associated with geometry for the mesher is in units of edge length.
Once the mesh is created you map the bathymetry. It's at this point you need to set the node values for the levee.

Dear Martin,

Thank you for your help. I did it as your suggestion, after I map the bathymetry to the mesh, I added values for each point, as shown in the attached file.

Then the new problem appeared, I couldn't run telemac2d successfully, I think there must be some problem with my geometry, because I met this kind of problem before, then I adjust the boundary it will be ok. however, all the geometry elements including the bounday, the left and right bank are the same as before, I just added an open line as hard line. am I wrong somewhere? or am I wrong when setting the location of hard line? or am wrong in some parameters when I generated the mesh? the error I met are shown as in the attached file.

Any help will be appreciated!

Hi Yajuan,

You can't have such a large jump in element edge length.

You will have to relax your mesher constraints.
