I have a Telemac3D model of rectangular basin blown by wind.
I postprocess with BlueKenue. Is it possible to plot the velocity component U in an arbitrary vertical section of the basin?
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,

I'm upping this topic because I would like to do the same kind of thing than matpisk :
I need to get a vertical profile of velocity from my results.
I used Matisse as pre-processor so I only have the results file to work with in bluekenue.

Here is my question : is it possible to extract the vertical profile from a x-y point ? If not, is it possible to extract the data (velocity) one by one from each layer ? So I can deal with the data after with another program.

If none of those are possible, what post-processor would you recommend me to get those vertical profile ?

thanks in advance for considering my issue.

I managed it by using Paraview.
More precisely I use the sel2vtk script to convert the results in vtk format, you can find it in
[TELEMACROOT]/optionals/addons/Paraview_Plugins/sel2vtk/
Be careful because it generates a HUGE amount of data
(e.g. I have 5 timestep in a 3d telemac .slf file which occupies 93Mb. The script convert this file in 5 different .vtk files each one occuping 181Mb, i.e. 93Mb-->905Mb, which seems incredible to me).

Hi,

You can extract a vertical profile at the location of a node in BlueKenue.
- drag the 3D result object into a 2D or 3D view
- select an element vertex by <double-click>,
- then choose "<right-click>->Extract Vertical Profile"

The resulting ts5 object can be viewed in a 1D view or saved to an ASCII file.

Hope this helps... Martin

Hi everyone, thank you for responding this quick !
I feel that Martin's solution was the simplest so I try this one first and it work well.
I have got the profile I needed, I can continue my work now.

thank you for your help and have a nice day

Hello everyone,
I have another problem to read and compare the results. I managed to get the results in a vertical profil and plot them in a 1D view with blue kenue. But the 1d view show me the velocity in x axis et the number of the layer corresponding in the y axis. The problem is that I want to compare those results with my mesuration on the real scale model.
Is it possible to put the elevation (z) in the y axis of the 1d view instead of the number of the layer ? Sothat I can spare a lot of time beecause I have to check the number of layer and the elevation for every point !!
Thank you for reeding me and I hope you guys have a solution for me.

Have a nice day

Sorry, this is not possible with the current version.
Perhaps in a future release.
I'll put it on my TO_DO list.

Cheers... Martin
