Is there a size limit of data/points that can be uploaded into BK ? 10 years 8 months ago #12365

Good morning everyone

I have several shapes files with bathymetry (total area over 50 km2 with 1-m cells) that I tried to load into BK.

My problem is I run into a Microsot Visual C++ Runtime Library Error message, terminating BK (see attachment). I tried to load them in different order and everytime, it's the fifth file that triggers this message (and not one particular faulty file). So I was thinking there may be a limit of points and/or data that could be uploaded into BK.

I perused through Appendix A but couldn't find any info about that. I'd like to know if there is and what is the limit, to decide to either greatly reduce my data size (2-m cells for example) or just chop off a few uneeded areas if I'm rather close to that limit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and have a good day !

Are you using the 64bits version of BK or the 32bits version?

As I remember, it seems I had similar problem few years ago on windows 32 but this was solved with the 64bits version on windows 64

hope this helps

A 32 bit application has a virtual address space of 2 GBytes.
(That's 2 billion bytes)

50,000 * 50,000 = 2.5 billion points
each point consists of 3 double precision (8 byte) values (x,y,x)

You're way over the limit.

As per Christophes reply, use the 64 bit version

I downloaded the 64-bit installer but unfortunately my PC configuration prevents me from running it through. I'll check with the IT service.

Thanks to both of you for your reply.
