Hello everybody,

I'm a new user on this website.
I have read some of the topics but I didn't really find what I was looking for.
In my internship, I'm working on a sedimentation issue.
I have 2 bathymetry files for 2 specific dates, and I have to calculate the volume of sediments that was dredged between these two dates.
Moreover, I don't have the contour file for the study area, I have just the two bathymetry files on my hand.
So does anyone know how to help me with this?

thank you in advance and I wish you all a nice day ! :cheer:

Cao.

Hi Cao,

If you're able to read your files in BlueKenue, you might use Tools - Calculator

You just have to assign
A = initial bottom mesh (or bottom at t0 = iteration number)
B = final bottom mesh (or bottom at tfinal)

and B-A to map the elevation difference
-> Tools - Compute volume to calculate the volume on the domain.

You don't need the contour to do that. You just need to have your bottom datas on the same mesh.
Anyway, if you do need the contour, select your mesh and Tools - T3Mesh - Extract Edges

Thank you abernard
but I have a problem, when I want to use the calculator, i'm only able to use the selected object in the calculator area. I can't select the other objects to calculate the difference. Maybe it's because it doesn't have the same surface?
I have the first bathymetry file for the first date , and the one for the second date. With the calculator I can't deal with the two objects, just one of them.
Do you have an idea about what is wrong with it?
thanks.

Hi,

I guess the two meshes or grids are slightly different. You can use the calculator on the same grided meshed data.

Can you post your files?

Anyway, assuming that your initial state (a) is in a grided format and your final state (b) on a different grid.

You can select (a) and apply Tool-Map Object object (b) and save the result in a new object.
