Hello all,

I use a 2D mesh (that I didn't make) and I want to test other sets of Strickler coefficients that the set I use currently. That's why I would like to modify the Strickler coefficients with BlueKenue but I don't how to do this. I gave an eye to the tutorial at the top of this forum but I didn't find anything about friction coeeficients. Would you please help me to do this ?

Hi,

You can open your geometry file.

If the strickler coeffient are already distributed (not imposed by a keyword), you can see BOTTOM or FOND and FRICTION or FROTTEMENT.

You can also duplicate the FOND or BOTTOM object and start from this point.

You can create a new closed line, assigning it the desired strickler coefficient, select the FRICTION object, and use the Map object feature.

You will have to save BOTTOM and FRICTION in the same slf file.

Thank you abenard for your answer. I will try to modify the Strickler coefficients following your advices and I will ask you if I have other questions.

Thanks again ;)

Just to clarify/explain further...

You can add any number of additional variables to a SELAFIN object.<right-click> (on the SELAFIN object) to show the context menu
and select "Add Variable..."
The dialog that comes up is self explanatory.

Hope this helps... Martin

Hello,

I tried to follow the advices of abernard, it's almost OK for me : I created a new closed line, I changed the Strickler coefficients in some points of the corresponding delimited area and then I used the Map object feature so that the new Strickler coefficients for the FROTTEMENT object are the ones I prescribed. I saved and verified when opening the geometry that the Strickler coefficients are the ones I choose and it's OK.

Still I have a question : how can I change the Strickler coefficients of all the poins in the area demilited by the closed line I created in only one time ? I mean how can I avoid to change the Strickler for each point one by one ?

Hi,

No, it's easier...
Assuming you want to assign ks=25 in a limited area :

1 - Create the closed line and give it the value of 25
2 - Select the FROTTEMENT or BOTTOM FRICTION mesh
3 - Tools - Map Object and select the closed polyligne
4 - You can answer No to the following question

It's an easy way to modify BOTTOM or BOTTOM FRICTION or to initiate a free surface.

Thank you very much abernard ;)

Hi everybodies,

In addition to your previous explanations, does one of you know how to select many closed polylignes all at once?

On the river I model, I have around 50 polylignes assigned by different Strickler coefficients. I would like to select these 50 polylignes all at once in the "Map object" tool or create 1 only file with these 50 polylignes (file I can use with many mesh files).

Is this kind of operation possible on Bluekenue?

Thank you for your answer.

Hi
Not fully sure but i think it's not possible in that way.
Maybe you could look with interpolator2d

Hi,

If the polygons are all in the same LineSet object (file) then there's no problem. You could use a text editor to concatenate them into a single file.
You can use the "Edit->LineSet->{Cut/Copy/Paste}" functions to copy the individual polygons into a single LineSet.

How did you create the 50 polygons?
If you created them in Blue Kenue you should have used the
"Edit->Line Set->Add Closed Line" function.
