TOPIC: Problem extracting cross-section from gridded data

Problem extracting cross-section from gridded data 9 years 5 months ago #17115

hi,

i have problems when i try to extract the cross-sections from my TELEMAC3D data. I have follows the instructions on BK manual pg 123 but still unsuccessfully extract the cross-section.

i successfully follows the instructions up to resampling the lines but fail to map the objects. The list of selected grid and mesh only appears to have the ipobo (2d line sets)(for BK windows 32bit) and when selecteed fail to produce the "Xsection" child object.

i also try using BK windows for 64 bit, it seems that an error appears saying that there were no suitable objects are available for mapping. is there something missing in my steps?

best regards

Haslim

The instructions describe extraction a cross section from a 2D object.
You have loaded a 3D telemac result file. It is not possible to extract a cross section from a 3D object.

Hello

you can start by look at the res2d file (the 2d result file generated by Telemac3D) as a first step.

Hi Haslim,

You can use Blue Kenue to extract individual layers as 2D objects
from the 3D result. See menu item "Tools->Extract Layer"

You can also extract a vertical profile at a single node.
- drag the 3D object into a 2D view,
- select a node <double-click>
- <right click> to show context menu
- select "Extract Vertical Profile..."
The resulting ts5 object can be viewed in a 1D view with time on the horizontal, depth in the vertical and colour corresponds to the scalar nodal value.

Hope this helps...

Cheers... Martin
