Anyway, I am not sure the installation of v8p3 or v8p2 releases are so different. Have you tried to install manually metis for v8p3?

I have, in fact. Nevertheless, it did not fixed the error. Then I tried to compile older versions and until now it has not displayed this error message.

I have successfully compiled v8p2r1 on two linux environments right now.

I confirm Marcelo's error message. All examples work just fine with v8p2, but not with v8p3. I am using similar systel files (the only difference is that one of them points to the v8p2 and the other one to the v8p3 directory).

I am also compiling with Metis 5.1.0 and openmpi, but I do not think that this is the problem: If I copy only the examples from v8p2 to v8p3, they work with both v8p2 and v8p3.

The only difference is that I downloaded v8p2 with SVN and v8p3 from the new git repo. There is no difference between the steering (cas) and boundary (cli) files (I compared with diff). However, the geometry files differ. I tested with different examples (for instance, the telemac2d/donau case) and get to similar results. Does someone have a clue what could be the issue?

donau geometry file has not changed since October 2020.
As asked in a previous post of this topic, what is the size of the donau geometry file? It should be 2,069,684 B. If it is less and is an ASCII file, you may have forgotten to install git lfs extension.

Good catch, thanks. Just to confirm: Installing git-lfs and git-all in addition to git fixes the issue.
