Hello,

First try the fastest option : the wave equation technique, as I mentioned in my previous message, which is also finite elements. btw the free surface gradient compatibility can go from 1 (compatible) to 0 (fully not compatible).

Then to have finite volumes it is the keyword EQUATIONS, please refer to the user manual for details and options of finite volume schemes.

Dear Gourish,

To switch to Finite volume option you need to add the following keywords:
EQUATIONS = 'SAINT-VENANT VF'
FINITE VOLUME SCHEME = 6 /you can choose from 0 to 6/
VARIABLE TIME-STEP = YES
DESIRED COURANT NUMBER = 0.8
DURATION = ...

You need to take into account the fact that you will be in an explicit time integration with a variable time step, thus, you need to adapt the periodicity of listing and graphical outputs.
One final important remark is that FV are still not parallel (it will be active for the next release). Your model contains almost 60 000 nodes which is oversized for a serial computation. Therefore, if there is no emergency, wait for next release (expected for july).

With my best regards,
Riadh

Hi Riadh and JMH,

As advised I am currently running the wave equation technique.
So currently I shall stick to the finite elemental methods, which is more
suitable to my simulation case.

I shall post the results as soon the simulation is completed.

Thank and Best Regards,
Gourish

Hi,

I have run the simulation for a period of 15 days
with options
TREATMENT OF LINEAR SYSTEM : 2
FREE SURFACE GRADIENT COMPATIBILITY : 0.1

The simulation run is very stable.
The following is the plot of the flux across the intake.

Hello,

OK. I looked at your file intake.liq. As soon as you reach the maximum discharge, you can suppress all the lines, keeping only the last time, and the interpolation in time will give the same result. So 5 lines of data would be enough.
