Hi Jan Youenn,

a simplified way to look what bed evolution comes from suspension and what from bed load could be to simulate one run suspension only and another one bed load only and do comparison of the runs with the run with both suspension and bed load.
Best regards,

Hi Rebekka
Thanks for your reply. However, I did it already multiple times and it didn't worked as expected. The evolution is shown, but it doesn't correspond to what is observed, that's why I was asking.
Best regards

Hi,

Concerning bed evolution, we did a similar test with :

BED LOAD FOR ALL SANDS : YES
SUSPENSION FOR ALL SANDS=YES
BED-LOAD TRANSPORT FORMULA FOR ALL SANDS : 5
SUSPENSION TRANSPORT FORMULA FOR ALL SANDS :4 (which is soulsby Van rijn also, calculationg only the suspension term)

Bed evolution was also excessively too big, especially on tidal flats.
We found a solution using the keyword 'SETTLING LAG' =YES (velocity profile based on the Miles approximation instead of Rouse profile): order of magnitude of bed evolution was as expected.

Best Regard

Aurélie

Hi Aurélie,

Thanks for your post. I tried your solution, and indeed, the formula didn't show anymore divergent cells. But as I said earlier, the bed evolution that we observe does not correspond to the one predicted by Gaia. It only seems to be the same dynamic than the bed-load one, with a factor, and so it doesn't show the accretion zones that are in place. I started to modify the source code for this purpose, I will keep in touch if I success.
Best regards
Youenn
