Sorry, in the last post the attachments gave an error. Second try:

File Attachment:

File Name: 3D_tube_test_exp_tr5.cas
File Size: 6 KB

From the output_ser.txt (serial run) I have:

FINAL MASS BALANCE
T = 8000.0000

--- WATER ---
INITIAL MASS : 110836.6
FINAL MASS : 151423.1
MASS LEAVING THE DOMAIN (OR SOURCE) : -40586.44
MASS LOSS : 0.6111804E-09

--- TRACER 1 ---
INITIAL MASS : 173415.5
FINAL MASS : 251908.3
MASS EXITING (BOUNDARIES OR SOURCE) : -78492.82
MASS LOSS : 0.2270739E-03
RETOUR DE BIL3D

From the output_par.txt (parallel run) I have:

FINAL MASS BALANCE
T = 8000.0000

--- WATER ---
INITIAL MASS : 110836.6
FINAL MASS : 151423.1
MASS LEAVING THE DOMAIN (OR SOURCE) : -40586.44

Dear all,

I need your help!
After some simulations with the same test case (a simple rectangle representing a beach in which I impose a liquid file with varying surface at the boundary), I turned off the tracers and tried to work with the sources. I imposed one source and one sink term with the same water discharge values (one positive and another negative).

I get the same kind of error: in serial run, the mass of water is conserved while in parallel mode not. I tried to run only with two sub-domains and actually what happens is that when the source and sink terms are in the same sub-domain the "mass loss" given in the listing output file is almost zero. When I put the source faraway from the sink term the "mass loss" increases considerably.

So my question is: is this a problem of the "mass loss" calculation in the listing file? Or I'm really loosing mass when working in parallel? Or am I doing something wrong? If it is a problem in parallel is there a way of controlling how the global domain is divided?

Kind regards,
Maria

Dear all,

After some other tests I realize that the problem with sources and sink terms is not related with parallel mode, but with the fact that I have a source term in a tidal flat. Sorry for the last post.
I read in the documentation that is not advisable to put source terms at the bottom level. How to deal then with source terms and tidal flats?

Regarding the tracers mass conservation I still have the same problem...Only changing from serial to parallel mode the mass is no longer conserved..

Thank you,
Maria
