TOPIC: River Estuary in Telemac

River Estuary in Telemac 1 week 6 days ago #44599

Hello!

I'm trying to model a river estuary in Telemac using Blue Kenue interface.
How can I specify the difference in water density between river and sea?
I have no previous computation file

thank you!
Giulia

Hello Giulia,

Please read the TELEMAC-3D user manual, in particular the "Tracer transport" chapter, e.g. the section dedicated to initial conditions, in particular how to work with USER_CONDI3D_TRAC.

Please also have a look of examples how to implement USER_CONDI3D_TRAC subroutine (see V, Viollet, bump_static, lock-exchange, stratif_wind, tidal_flats, stratification e.g.).

Moreover, have a look at keyword DENSITY LAW to choose the best law to fit what you want to model in the estuary.

Hope this helps,

Thank you!
I am trying to run the simulation, but I have an error in the steering file.
How can I give multiple values for the keyword INITIAL VALUES OF TRACERS (one for tracer1 boundary1 and one for tracer1 boundary2)?
Thank you again for your help
Giulia

Hello Giulia,

Please read the TELEMAC-3D user manual carefully, in particular the sections explaining initial conditions and boundary conditions for tracers. Initial condition is not boundary conditions! The keyword INITIAL VALUES OF TRACERS only expects 1 value per tracer.
Perhaps you also should read the steering file section (3.2) and the writing rules.

Anyway, in addition to the TELEMAC-3D user manual, have a look at the examples in the $HOMETEL/examples/telemac3d folder where you have... examples of TELEMAC-3D steering files.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
