TOPIC: Mascaret engine not running - folder permissions

Mascaret engine not running - folder permissions 10 years 10 months ago #11712

Hello

When I try to run a simulation with the latest release, even with one of the example like ondeSub7biefs3seuils.masc, the simulation starts but the engine doesn't run.
I have had the same issue with the release 3.1.9.
I am wondering if this is due to permissions on the folders in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Fudaa-Mascaret ? It looks like writing is not permitted in this folder.
However writing is permitted on the other fudaa-mascaret folder: C:\Users\jlh\AppData\Local\Temp\fudaa_srv\mascaret\mascaret_7_0

I attach the listing file.
It looks like the simulation starts to be processed but then the hydraulic calculations do not start.

Here is copy from the window Message of the computational kernel:

FichiercasFichierCas.txt
Fichier mot clemascaret0.cas
T0 0.31200099
***** C:\Users\jlh\AppData\Local\Temp\\fudaa_srv\mascaret\mascaret_7_0\mascaret.exe launched *****

Any help appreciated.
Julien

Hello Julien

It seems that the engine is started but stops. I have no problem with this case 'ondeSub7biefs3seuils.masc' with all the versions of Fudaa-Mascaret you mention.

May be a corrupted file? Can you check this md5 sum :

Bonjour Fabrice

Thank you. I will check the md5.
The impression is that there is something wrong with our installation here, as another colleague has the same issue.
Our IT support has enabled writing in C:\Program Files (x86)\Fudaa-Mascaret but that didn't make a difference.

Hi
It's potentially linked to the space character in the name "program files (x86)".
You should test to install it in another directory...

Hope this helps

Fabrice, Christophe

We have tried to install Fudaa-Mascaret on the D: drive, in a folder name with no blank space. This hasn't solved the issue.
We are going to check the md5.

Could it be a 32/64 bit issue ?

Thanks
Julien

Hello Julien,

I have just tested the case on a Windows 8 64 bits PC with success.

Hi Fabrice

OK thanks for checking this.
Regarding the md5 sum, I assume the one you gave here previously is for the *.jar instaler file. Is that correct ?

Thanks
Julien

Hello Julien,

No, the md5 sum is for the file 'ondeSub7biefs3seuils.masc'

OK thanks Fabrice.
We were actually checking the md5 on the *.jar installer.
I picked 'ondeSub7biefs3seuils.masc' as an example but I don't think the problem is related to that file, as I have the same behaviour with other *.masc files.
The issue is more likely linked with mascaret.exe, as this crashes when I run it independently from the GUI (from C:\Users\jlh\AppData\Local\Temp\fudaa_srv\mascaret\mascaret_7_0)

There is obviously something wrong happening at our end as it works fine for you. Maybe it is something linked to our company-wide desktop configuration.

Can I check which version of Java you use ? I don't think that could be the error as the GUI seems to work fine, but just to rule out something.

Alternatively I could get Fudaa-Mascaret installed on Linux.

Julien
